Google is much more than just a search engine. It is a place where you can collaborate and network with others. You can collect digital notes, write reports, create graphs and much more and the beautiful thing about it, is you can access your work from anywhere around the globe! No need to save it on a flash drive that may end up in your pocket and then through the wash cycle of your washing machine. Our students from 5th grade through 8th are now beginning to use some of the features of Google Apps. Google Docs, Notebook and Alerts are the three applications currently being used by our older classes. Google Earth is a schoolwide favorite!

Check out this image of Google Earth used with our kindergarten classes. We were able to create placemarks of the places that people from around the globe viewed our wiki of our hatching chicks. People from as far away as Hong Kong, China and as close as Cleveland, Ohio viewed our wiki. We will be Skyping with our new friends who viewed our wiki in Centennial, Colorado. Using the Google Earth tools we also found out that our friends in Colorado are about 1,500 miles away from us.
